
Picking the Right Wattage for Your Bathroom Heater
Nobody likes stepping out of a hot shower into a freezing room. But if you pick the wrong heater, you’re either shivering or tripping your circuit breaker. We use short-wave infrared tech for this. Think of it like the sun—it doesn’t waste time trying to warm up all the air in the room; it just heats you and whatever you’re touching. It’s fast. Really fast.
How much power do you actually need?
It really comes down to how much space you’re trying to warm up. For those tiny powder rooms (under 4m²), a single 250W to 400W lamp does the trick. If you’ve got a medium-sized bathroom (4m² to 8m²), I’d go with two lamps totaling around 800W. For the big master baths—anything over 10m²—you’ll want 1200W or more to keep things feeling cozy. Just a heads-up: don’t overdo it. Putting a 1200W beast in a tiny stall is a bad move. It’ll feel like a sauna in two seconds, and the thermal safety switch will probably just shut the whole thing down.
Water, electricity, and the boring stuff
Bathrooms are wet. That’s why we use IPX4 ratings. We seal the quartz tubes and connectors tight so moisture doesn’t sneak in and mess with the electrics. Most of these run on your standard 220V-240V lines. We also use R7s snap-in connectors. Why? Because swapping out a lamp should be a five-second job, not a project that requires you to rewire the entire ceiling.
The trade-off: Instant heat vs. Long life
Here’s the thing about wattage: there’s always a catch. If you crank a lamp to its max, you get that instant blast of warmth. It feels great, but it puts a lot of stress on the filament. It’s basically like redlining a car engine—it’ll burn out faster. If you’re more worried about maintenance and want something that lasts for years, try this: use a few low-wattage lamps spread across the ceiling instead of one high-power blast. You get a more even glow of heat, and you aren’t pushing any single bulb to its limit.
